What is an enlarged prostate?

An enlarged prostate means the gland has grown in size, which is a natural occurrence in all men as they age. Also known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), an enlarged prostate is not cancer, nor does it raise your risk for prostate cancer.

What are the symptoms of this condition?

When the prostate grows, the urethra is tightly squeezed, leading to frequent urination, especially in the middle of the night, with some strain to start and stop. You may also experience a sense of not completely emptying the bladder. A doctor will be able to give you a PSA checkup to diagnosis the condition.
